Life after graduation: I retired some 6 years ago after spending
29 years in the federal civil service (Department of
the Army). My wife and classmate, Mary Ellen Knott,
continues to teach french and englsh at New Haven
High School. We think she is going to teach one
more year after this than we plan on moving back
home. We have 10 acres of land next to my brother's
place on Morton Road. It will be nice since it is
moving home for both of us and Mary Ellen's parents
are still in the area. UPDATE 8.8.02 - Mary Ellen and I have made the big move back to Stockbridge. We moved into our new house on Morton Road a couple of weeks ago and it's like we never lived anywhere else. We've seen a few people we know and are looking forward to seeing more. |

| Classes/activities/memories: I guess the things I remember most revolve around the privilege of growing up in a small town and going to a small high school; something we tried to provide for our daughters by moving to Romeo. However, Romeo is no longer a small town and we have to get out of here. Had some good teachers who were also good friends. Frank Radowski comes to mind. And, of course, Dick Howlett who I still see occassionaly. Unfortunately, mainly at the funeral home. But, had too many relatives who were teachers. My Aunt Nellie Stephens, my cousin Nella O'Brien (Jack's mom so he had the same problem) and, of course, my mother, so I had to be on my best behavior. |

Life after graduation: Went to Eastern Mich. Univ. and graduated in 1964. Married Paul Eagle ( a big city dude) in 1966, and worked as an elementary librarian for 51/2 years in Clarenceville Schools. Oldest son born in 1970, daughter in 1972, and last child in 1973. Sooooo, I was quite busy with little ones for several years. Decided that being a school libraran was the ONLY way to go, so earned my Master's Degree in Llbrary Science in DEC. 1971 from University of Michigan (of course). Began substitute teaching in 1978, (Paul worked nights at the newspapers in Det.) and got back full time when our district employed "REAL" elementary librarians--first time ever-- in 1985. Went back to EMU and earned a second MA -- this one in Children's Lit. in 1989. We lived on 5 acres on a dead-end road in Canton Twp. for 25 years; then a developer wanted to build, so all of us sold out to them. We then moved to Ypsilanti Twp. where we lived for 10 years. I retired from Van Buren Public Schools in Belleville in 2003 after 28/12 years counting ALL my subbing, etc. Paul had retired from the newspapers earlier, so we've travelled several times. In 2006, we moved to St. John's , Mich. and just love the small town atmosphere! Not too bad for a 'farmers' daughter"! |

Classes/activities/memories: My best SHS memories are 'earning the priveledge' of washing the drivers ed. car 8th hour if we were the top three n last weeks' test. I also credit Miss Stephens with helping guide me into the library field, since I'd tried out for glee club, and didn't make it; but she put me in charge of the library 8th hour. |
| Comments: As you can see, I did VERY WELL in storytelling, but all this is true! |

| Life after graduation: Worked at the D & C Stores for 10 years. Was Ass't Vice President Commercial Loans at Midwest Bank in Jackson, now Republic Bank. Retired after 10 years when youngest son was born, in 1987. Married in 1982 to Kirk Curtis. Have 6 children (yours, mine, ours, and somebody else's), 5 grand children. For the past 14 years have been Stockbridge Township Treasurer. Presently involved in "mega-soccer" with the youngest son, Ben, traveling all over Michigan and soon to Europe to see him play. |
| Current Address: 4101 Adams Road, Stockbridge, MI 49285 |
| Classes/activities/memories: I remember best Bill Valentine who was the cheerleading advisor, speech and drama teacher. Mr. Howlett was our government teacher and Principal and is still active in the Stockbridge community. My best memory I have is when Stockbridge defeated Jackson St. John's in basketball in the late 50's. I remember also the basement study halls (with the furnace nearby) and the hall study halls, thankfully things of the long past. Can you imagine the Fire Marshall's reaction to those now? |
